Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong

On 5 April 2017, EABC delegation, led by President Rolf-Dieter Daniel, held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong to enhance R&D and innovation in Thailand. The meeting was also joined by Director General Songphol Sukchan, Department of European Affairs and other senior officials from Office of Prime Minister and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EABC participants were Mr. Stefan Teuchert, EABC Board and Chair of Automotive / Platinum Partner / BMW Group , Mr. Georg Wolff, EABC Board and Chair of Rail and Road Infrastructure, Dr. Thavirap Tantiwongse, EABC Board and Chair of Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals Working Group / Silver Partner / GSK, Mr. Chaladbhum Temkasem, EABC Policy Manager, and other representatives from the working groups were Ms. Shutchada Chandrangsu, EABC Representative of Food and Beverages / Gold Partner / Diageo,  Ms. Paranee Adulyapichet, EABC Representative of Food  and Beverages / Silver Partner / Bayer, and Mr. Choochai Eiamrungroj, EABC Honorable Member and Representative of Energy.
The Delegation discussed R&D funds for collaboration and training with foreign companies to enhance capacity building for post-graduate researchers, attracting top talents to Thailand to drive the R&D efforts, graduate-level and vocational education to support Thailand 4.0 policy, EV charging station promotion, proactive program to prevent underage drinking issue and school-based alcohol prevention education that teaching students how to resist peer influences, improving generic life skills, involving families, and providing opportunities to become involved in positive experiences with others in the school and community, opportunities for European investors to support Thailand Energy Master Plan 2015- 2035 including energy security, improve energy efficiency for Thailand, solar energy promotion, innovation and digital technology in to enhance food quality and productivity in crop agriculture, and meeting digital economy objectives through reforms as well as promotion. The Deputy Prime Minister agreed on issues the EABC brought forward and promised to support the EABC in bridging all the ministries. Follow up meeting is anticipated after Songkran Festival.
